Seven migrant laborers lost their lives, and four others were injured when a wall collapsed at a sewage treatment plant construction site in Gurugram. The tragic incident occurred at the Signature Global society project site in Sidhrawali village during construction work. A group of laborers working at the site faced the collapse of a concrete retention wall, leading to a significant soil collapse at the basement level.
Rescue teams quickly responded to the scene, managing to extract around 12 to 15 trapped laborers from the debris and soil. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital in Bhiwadi for medical attention. Among the deceased were identified workers from various locations such as Banihara, Hondai, and Jamshedpur.
The deceased workers were named as Shiv Shankar, Parmeshwar Mehto, Mangal Mehto, Bhagirath Gope, Sanjeev Gope, Satish, and Dhananjay Mehto. Additionally, four other laborers sustained injuries in the incident, with individuals from Nepal and Bandikui among them. These injured workers are currently receiving treatment at the Bhiwadi hospital, where their condition is reported as stable under observation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the wall collapse that led to the tragic event. Signature Global, the real estate developer overseeing the project, reported a significant net loss in the third quarter of the current financial year. The company’s financial performance showed a notable decline compared to the same period in the previous year.
