A seven-year-old girl was reportedly abducted and raped in Domjur, Howrah district. The incident led to public outrage, prompting protests and vandalism in the area. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed by the police to manage the situation, as the main suspect remains at large.
The assault occurred in Raghabhpur, a region under the Domjur police station, during road construction activities on Monday evening. Local residents expressed concerns over the rising number of external workers due to the ongoing construction work. Allegations suggest that a worker involved in the project molested and sexually assaulted the minor girl.
Residents highlighted delays in police response, indicating that the family hesitated to report the incident. The enraged community initiated a protest, resulting in the destruction of several vehicles. Despite verbal complaints, no formal written report has been filed with the police. Authorities are actively searching for the accused individual, who is yet to be apprehended.
Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of filing a formal complaint against the suspect. While the situation is currently deemed under control, efforts to locate the perpetrator continue, with potential medical examinations for the victim being considered.
