In Hubballi, Karnataka, two separate cases of sexual assault against minor girls by groups of boys have raised concerns. The incidents occurred within the jurisdictions of the Shahar and Ashok Nagar police stations. Seven minors have been detained by the police in connection with these cases.
The police have taken swift action by registering POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases and initiating further investigations. In one case under Shahar station limits, three minors were accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl. Meanwhile, in the Ashok Nagar police station limits, two minors allegedly subjected another minor girl to sexual harassment and assault.
Four accused individuals have been detained and are currently undergoing interrogation in connection with the cases. Authorities are awaiting more details to emerge regarding these distressing incidents. Hubballi and Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar emphasized the importance of parents monitoring their children’s associations during free time to prevent such crimes and safeguard their future.
On a related note, a Kannada YouTuber was arrested by the Magadi police in Bengaluru South district for allegedly kidnapping and inappropriately touching a minor girl. The incident took place on January 1, with the accused approaching the minor as she returned home after New Year celebrations. Additionally, on December 29, 2025, a 27-year-old businessman was arrested by Bagalagunte police in Bengaluru for offenses under the POCSO Act. The accused had allegedly swindled cash and gold ornaments from the victim’s family, leading to his arrest.
