Seychelles’ Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Barry Faure, highlighted the significance of India’s donations during the ceremony to hand over the Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) at the Seychelles Coast Guard Base. The donation, including the vessel PS Lespwar, symbolizes the strong partnership between Seychelles and India, emphasizing their joint dedication to peace, security, and sustainable development.
President Dr. Patrick Herminie and Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the official handover ceremony at the Seychelles Coast Guard Base, where Minister Barry Faure emphasized the deep-rooted collaboration between the two nations. The donation of PS Lespwar by the Government of India will bolster Seychelles’ maritime security capabilities, improving maritime surveillance, search-and-rescue operations, and safeguarding the country’s territorial waters.
Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), praised the addition of PS Lespwar to the Seychelles Coast Guard fleet, noting its vital role in enhancing maritime domain protection, surveillance, and search-and-rescue operations. The ceremony also witnessed the donation of six ambulances and four sport utility vehicles (SUVs) by the Government of India, further solidifying the enduring friendship and shared commitment to national resilience, security, and public service delivery between Seychelles and India.
