Seychelles President Patrick Herminie has arrived in New Delhi for a five-day State Visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This marks his first visit to India since taking office in October last year. During his visit, Herminie will meet with President Droupadi Murmu and hold discussions with PM Modi on various bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest.
The visit is significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. President Herminie is also scheduled to visit Chennai and Mumbai, where he will participate in business events. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this visit is expected to enhance the existing cooperation between the two nations, especially in the maritime domain.
President Herminie’s visit follows the Vice President of India’s visit to Seychelles in October 2025, indicating the commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries. The leaders are focused on promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region and the Global South. The visit underscores the shared heritage, culture, and people-to-people connections that form the foundation of the India-Seychelles relationship.
