SG Pipers clinched their inaugural victory in the 2025-26 Men’s Hockey India League season by defeating Hyderabad Toofans 2-1 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. Tomas Domene scored twice for SG Pipers, with goalkeeper Tomas Santiago delivering an outstanding performance. Amandeep Lakra scored for Hyderabad Toofans.
SG Pipers dominated the early stages of the match, securing an early lead with Tomas Domene’s dragflick goal in the eighth minute. Despite Hyderabad Toofans’ efforts to push back, SG Pipers maintained their superiority, earning multiple penalty corners in the first fifteen minutes.
In the second quarter, Hyderabad Toofans intensified their attacks but failed to convert their opportunities. SG Pipers extended their lead to 2-0 with Tomas Domene’s second goal before halftime, capitalizing on a setup by Roman Duvekot. The Toofans, however, narrowed the gap with Amandeep Lakra’s goal in the third quarter.
Despite relentless pressure from Hyderabad Toofans in the final quarter, SG Pipers held firm defensively. Tomas Santiago’s exceptional goalkeeping, including a crucial save from a penalty stroke, ensured SG Pipers secured their first win of the tournament.
