Shafali Verma showcased her batting prowess by scoring 62 runs off 41 balls, supported by Lucy Hamilton and Sneh Rana, helping Delhi Capitals reach a competitive total of 166 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League match at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Initially struggling, Delhi Capitals turned the game around with aggressive batting and lower-order contributions.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after opting to bowl first, made a strong start with Lauren Bell dismissing Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt early on, putting Delhi Capitals under pressure. Sayali Satghare, in her RCB debut, impressed by taking two crucial wickets in consecutive balls, further challenging DC during the powerplay and middle overs.

Shafali Verma played a pivotal role in Delhi’s innings, forming key partnerships with Niki Prasad and Sneh Rana to stabilize the team’s performance. Her aggressive approach and a 59-run stand with Prasad, followed by a 34-run partnership with Rana, helped Delhi maintain momentum. Verma’s innings included her seventh WPL half-century, ending with a total of 62 runs off 41 deliveries.

A late surge from Lucy Hamilton, who scored 36 off 19 balls, propelled Delhi Capitals past the 150-run mark, ultimately reaching 166 before being bowled out on the last ball. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Lauren Bell and Sayali Satghare shone with the ball, each claiming three wickets, while Prema Rawat and Nadine de Klerk contributed with two and one wicket, respectively. RCB now requires 167 runs to continue their unbeaten streak and secure their fourth win of the season.
