Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar clarified that he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enable discussions between protesting students and the government. He praised the government’s response following the talks but criticized its approach at Jantar Mantar.

During a press conference, Pawar commended the youth for standing against injustice and forcing the government to acknowledge moral responsibility. He expressed gratitude to Opposition MPs for supporting the students. Pawar highlighted the impact of paper leaks on students’ lives and futures, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in a democracy.

Pawar revealed that his meeting with the Prime Minister aimed to convey the sentiments of the younger generation peacefully. He urged Modi to engage in discussions, which led to visible outcomes. While acknowledging the government’s acceptance of moral responsibility, Pawar condemned the use of force against the protesters.

Addressing the actions of the Delhi Police, Pawar congratulated the youth for their victory but suggested that handling the situation without resorting to measures like tear gas and lathi charges would have been preferable. He praised the determination of the youth during the 28-day protest at Jantar Mantar.
