Shaurya Bhattacharya, the current front-runner, showcased a remarkable performance by scoring an impressive eight-under 62 in the second round of the INR 1.5 crore DP World Players Championship 2026 at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata. This outstanding display widened his lead to four shots.
With a flawless round that included an eagle and six birdies, Shaurya’s total score now stands at 14-under 126, maintaining his dominance in the tournament.
Following closely behind, Kshitij Naveed Kaul climbed seven spots to secure the second position with a score of 10-under 130, after delivering a stellar performance with a 63 that featured an eagle, six birdies, and a bogey.
Sanjeev Kumar and Jhared Hack, both winners of the season’s initial event, shared the third spot at seven-under 133, while Honey Baisoya, the current DP World PGTI Ranking leader, and Pranav Mardikar were tied for fifth place at six-under 134.
Bhattacharya’s exceptional day commenced with a birdie on the first hole, followed by an extraordinary eagle on the Par-4 fifth hole, where he aced his approach shot from 140 yards. This remarkable feat was a highlight of his round.
Throughout the day, Bhattacharya added five more birdies to his scorecard, excelling on all three Par-5s and showcasing his skills with crucial up-and-downs to solidify his lead.
Expressing his satisfaction with his performance, Bhattacharya mentioned his success with wedge shots and his ability to recover from challenging situations. He emphasized his consistency off the tee and the importance of capitalizing on the Par-5 opportunities.
Kshitij Naveed Kaul, starting his day with a 50-foot eagle conversion on the 10th hole, displayed his prowess by nearly reaching the greens on the Par-4 14th and 15th holes, securing birdies. He continued his strong play with a bogey and four additional birdies.
Notably, two Kolkata-based professionals, Mohammad Sanju and Divyanshu Bajaj, managed to make the cut, both positioned at tied 47th with a score of one-over 141. Fifty-eight professionals have advanced to the final two rounds of the championship.
