Shiv Sena Criticizes Government for Favoring Corporate Defaulters Over Common Citizens

The Shiv Sena criticized the government for allegedly supporting big corporate loan defaulters while imposing strict recovery measures on the poor and middle class. According to official data shared by Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, public sector banks have written off Rs 7.75 lakh crore in bad loans from 1,249 accounts between FY 2014-15 and FY 2025-26, recovering only Rs 3.10 lakh crore.

The party questioned the government’s justification that writing off loans is a standard accounting practice for non-recoverable debts and not a complete loan waiver. The editorial condemned this defense as shocking and hypocritical, raising concerns about the lack of financial discipline in dealing with massive defaults by industrialists.

Labeling the current situation as an “Amrit Kaal of Default,” the editorial criticized the government for allowing wealthy defaulters to escape accountability while burdening ordinary citizens with loan repayments. It also highlighted the government’s refusal to disclose the names of top corporate defaulters, citing confidentiality clauses under the RBI Act.

The Shiv Sena accused the government of shielding billionaire defaulters while publicly shaming small borrowers, alleging a biased policy of favoring major donors to the ruling party. It emphasized the disparity between how common citizens and wealthy individuals are treated in loan default cases, warning against the dangerous consequences of unchecked plunder of public funds through collusion between industry and government fraudsters.
