Amid a series of earthquakes in Marathwada, Shiv Sena criticized the Maharashtra government for focusing on publicity in Mumbai while neglecting seismic concerns in rural areas. The party’s editorial in Saamana highlighted administrative apathy towards tremors in Hingoli, Parbhani, and Nanded districts.
The editorial accused the government of prioritizing media attention during Mumbai rains over addressing the seismic threats in Marathwada. It criticized the Chief Minister and Disaster Management Minister for engaging in what it called a mere “photo-op” and “public relations show” during a crisis.
The editorial emphasized the impact of recent tremors felt across a wide area, including regions in Karnataka and Telangana. It pointed out the traumatic history of seismic disasters in Marathwada, particularly recalling the devastating 1993 Latur-Killari earthquake.
The Shiv Sena editorial warned of shifting geological realities in Maharashtra, highlighting the increasing earthquake risks in previously stable zones. It blamed the government for inactive disaster management systems and urged immediate action to prevent future calamities.
