The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) criticized the BJP-led Central government for its response to recent youth-led protests in New Delhi. The party condemned the police action against protesters, accusing the administration of resorting to force instead of dialogue. Despite facing police crackdowns, the editorial noted that protesters stood their ground, highlighting a growing defiance against the government.

The editorial expressed concern over the lack of direct communication between the administration and movement leaders, journalists, and affected citizens. It questioned why Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has not been asked to resign amid ongoing youth discontent, suggesting a fear of potential ministerial resignations. The editorial pointed out that the government’s reluctance to accept Pradhan’s resignation could trigger a chain of resignations from other ministers tainted by corruption and inefficiency.

Highlighting various land and environmental disputes across India, the editorial mentioned protests in Rishikesh, tree-felling controversies, and farmer agitations in Maharashtra. It accused the ruling party of undermining constitutional mechanisms, particularly criticizing Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the influence of the executive on judicial appointments and the Election Commission. Drawing parallels with global youth-led movements, the editorial warned of potential civil unrest if dialogue between rulers and citizens continues to deteriorate.

The editorial emphasized the importance of dialogue in politics and criticized the Modi government for what it perceived as a breakdown in communication with the public. It warned that regimes perceived as corrupt and unresponsive historically face dismantlement when public patience wears thin. The editorial concluded by accusing the ruling party of monopolizing democratic institutions and attempting to govern without opposition representation.
