Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized Shiv Sena UBT, accusing them of viewing Mumbai as a source of wealth during their 25-year rule. He also called out the opposition for their involvement in various scams and urged them to introspect before criticizing others. Shinde made these remarks at a felicitation event for newly elected Municipal Council Presidents of Shiv Sena.
The Municipal Council election results indicate Shiv Sena’s geographical expansion across Maharashtra, from ‘Chanda to Banda.’ Shinde expressed gratitude to voters for their support and highlighted the party’s electoral success in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He emphasized that despite contesting fewer seats, Shiv Sena achieved a high number of victories, showcasing their strong performance.
Shinde pointed out that Shiv Sena Council Presidents were elected even in constituencies without an MLA from the party. He mentioned that 62 Council Presidents have been elected, with expectations to reach 70, including 33 female representatives. Criticizing the opposition, Shinde stated that UBT and the MVA had already accepted defeat before the council elections, leaving their supporters stranded.
Looking ahead to the Municipal Corporation elections, Shinde expressed confidence in the Mahayuti alliance’s victory. Reflecting on his tenure as Chief Minister, he highlighted his administration’s service-oriented approach, which led to significant electoral success. Shinde also announced a new health initiative, ‘Health at Your Doorstep,’ to commemorate Balasaheb Thackeray’s birth centenary.
