A tweet by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has stirred political discussions as he publicly appreciated Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, for his role in the NEET paper leak case protests. Raut credited the Chief Justice for energizing public demonstrations nationwide, attributing the massive protest’s success to him.

Raut’s acknowledgment of the judiciary’s impact comes amid escalating political tensions in the national capital, where a ‘Parliament March’ witnessed a large turnout despite police constraints. His comments on the judiciary’s contribution have triggered strong reactions across political factions, intensifying the ongoing debate on the paper leak issue.

Previously, Raut criticized the Central government, particularly in light of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, accusing the authorities of suppressing democratic protests. Addressing the youth at Jantar Mantar, Raut highlighted the government’s initial dismissal of prominent voices like Sonam Wangchuk and Abhijit Dipke, emphasizing the resilience of these activists and the widespread public support they have garnered.

Raut condemned the government’s handling of peaceful rallies, advocating for a more democratic approach to engaging with protesters instead of resorting to bans or forceful actions. He suggested that the government should have directly addressed the youth’s concerns and considered the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to address the younger generation’s grievances.

In response to the protests and calls for the Education Minister’s resignation, BJP Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule criticized the organizers, labeling the demonstrations as a staged political spectacle aimed at tarnishing the images of top leaders. Bawankule dismissed the ongoing protests as mere theatrics, insinuating that some participants joined out of frustration. He emphasized the need for constructive suggestions for reform but deemed the demand for the minister’s resignation as politically motivated.
