Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the Jammu University committee’s suggestion to eliminate topics on Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah from the curriculum. Chaturvedi emphasized the importance of portraying both heroes and villains in history to provide a comprehensive understanding of the past. She expressed concern that removing such content would hinder future generations from grasping the roots of historical conflicts, including India’s partition and its ongoing tensions with Pakistan.

Chaturvedi highlighted that comprehending historical figures like Jinnah is crucial for understanding the reasons behind significant events like India’s division. She stressed the necessity of acknowledging both positive and negative figures in history to gain a holistic perspective. Additionally, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput urged for a broader discussion, suggesting that figures like Syed Ahmad Khan should also be included in academic discourse.

National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmed Larvi criticized the protests against discussing these historical figures, emphasizing the importance of focusing on real challenges faced by students. Meanwhile, Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav supported the decision to remove Jinnah-related topics from the curriculum, stating that it aligns with the government’s educational objectives. The University of Jammu’s Department Affairs Committee recommended the removal of Jinnah-related topics from the political science curriculum following protests by ABVP.
