Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized Galgotias University for using a Chinese robodog at the India AI Impact Summit, labeling it as “outright plagiarism” and urging an apology from the institution.
Chaturvedi emphasized the importance of the AI Summit in showcasing genuine innovation and stressed the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing various sectors like governance, education, and healthcare. She condemned the act of claiming credit for someone else’s invention at such a prestigious international event.
Demanding accountability, Chaturvedi described the incident as a national disgrace and called for Galgotias University to acknowledge its mistake and issue an apology. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured that appropriate actions have been taken regarding any misconduct at the AI Summit expo.
Professors from the university clarified that they never presented the Chinese AI-powered robodog as their creation, attributing the controversy to a miscommunication during the explanation of the robot’s capabilities. They expressed regret over the misunderstanding and highlighted their intention of using the robot for student learning and development.
