In anticipation of the upcoming Maharashtra Municipal Corporation elections, the Shiv Sena has revealed its roster of 40 “Star Campaigners.” Led by Deputy Chief Minister and Chief party Leader Eknath Shinde, the announcement pays tribute to the late Balasaheb Thackeray and former Shiv Sena Thane Chief Dharmaveer Anand Dighe. The campaign lineup includes a mix of seasoned leaders, Cabinet Ministers, and prominent Members of Parliament, ensuring a strong presence throughout the state. Notable figures like Deputy Chief Minister Shinde, along with senior leaders Ramdas Kadam, Gajanan Kirtikar, and Anandrao Adsul, top the list.
Several incumbent Ministers have been enlisted to capitalize on their administrative clout, with names like Gulabrao Patil, Uday Samant, Shambhuraj Desai, and Deepak Kesarkar included. Key Members of Parliament such as Shrikant Shinde, Prataprao Jadhav, Milind Deora, and Dhairyasheel Mane have been assigned campaign responsibilities. To engage with young voters and religious demographics, the campaign also features representatives from the youth and spiritual wings of the Shiv Sena, including Purvesh Sarnaik and Akshay Maharaj Bhosle. Adding a touch of stardom to the lineup, veteran actor and Shiv Sena MP Govinda Ahuja occupies the 40th spot.
Deputy Chief Minister Shinde recently criticized Shiv Sena-UBT, highlighting their governance history and taking a dig at the opposition for various scandals during the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized Shiv Sena’s expanding influence across Maharashtra, thanking voters for their support and citing the party’s success in recent elections. Shinde praised Shiv Sena’s performance in both the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections, underscoring the party’s strong position and electoral success.
