India’s Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, was seen alongside cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, enjoying the men’s singles semifinals. The duo, among the celebrities present, received a warm welcome at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. Gill shared a photo from the event, sparking buzz as he sat with Tendulkar and his wife, Anjali.
Tendulkar, a cricket legend, was captured watching the matches from the Royal Box, with Wimbledon’s official handle expressing delight at his presence among the distinguished guests. Gill, the fourth Indian captain to attend Wimbledon from the Royal Box, follows in the footsteps of Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. Notably, Gill also became the fourth Indian cricketer to grace the prestigious SW18 grass courts this year, joining other luminaries like Shikhar Dhawan, Deepti Sharma, and Tendulkar.
The Royal Box also hosted former West Indies cricket star Brian Lara, adding to the star-studded affair. Gill and Tendulkar had the opportunity to interact with various international celebrities during their time in the exclusive enclosure. Tendulkar, renowned as one of cricket’s finest, retired in 2013 after an illustrious career that culminated in his 200th Test match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
In the men’s singles semifinals, Jannik Sinner emerged victorious over Novak Djokovic, setting up a final showdown with Alexander Zverev, who halted British wildcard Arthur Fery’s impressive run.
