Siddhartha Sarma, a key figure in the Zubeen Garg death case and former manager of the late Assamese singer, has approached the Gauhati High Court to contest a Fast Track Court ruling. He seeks the reopening of his company, Mahabir Aqua, and the unfreezing of associated bank accounts. Sarma’s petition also requests the consideration of reports from Singapore authorities on Zubeen Garg’s demise.
Legal sources revealed that Sarma has filed a plea challenging the Fast Track Court’s decisions and requesting relief in various aspects of the ongoing legal proceedings. He specifically asks for the resumption of operations at Mahabir Aqua, which has been closed since the case investigation. Additionally, Sarma wants the release of frozen bank accounts linked to his business entity.
The accused individual’s application emphasizes the importance of reviewing the findings and reports provided by Singapore authorities concerning Zubeen Garg’s death. This move by Sarma follows the Gauhati High Court’s recent refusal to entertain his bail plea, indicating the complexities surrounding the case.
The Zubeen Garg death case involves the tragic passing of the renowned Assamese musician while swimming near Lazarus Island in Singapore. Despite the Singapore Police ruling out foul play, the Assam CID’s Special Investigation Team pursued criminal charges against seven individuals, including Sarma. The legal proceedings continue in Assam based on evidence gathered during the local investigation.
