Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang revealed a Rs 18,455-crore Budget for the financial year 2026-27, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, education, sustainable tourism, and fiscal discipline. The Budget aims to support Sikkim’s goal of becoming a high-income economy by 2047 under the “Viksit Sikkim @2047” initiative.

The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is projected at Rs 62,973 crore, with a targeted annual economic growth of over 13 percent. Emphasis is placed on environmental sustainability and prudent financial management to achieve these goals.

The Budget includes an allocation of Rs 5,896 crore for capital expenditure, highlighting the government’s commitment to creating long-term public assets. Investments are planned for various projects such as climate-resilient roads, modernization of electricity distribution, and tourism initiatives like ropeways and adventure projects.

The healthcare sector receives attention with plans to operationalize Sikkim’s first Government Medical College, introduce renal transplant programs, expand screening services, and enhance fertility treatment facilities. Education, agriculture, public health, and fiscal management are also key areas addressed in the Budget.
