Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, recently met with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani to discuss defense cooperation between the armed forces of both nations. They talked about enhancing ties through exercises, exchanges, and established dialogues. Wong also congratulated General Subramani on his appointment as India’s CDS.
During the meeting, Wong commended General Subramani on his recent appointment and highlighted the longstanding defense cooperation between the armed forces of Singapore and India. They discussed the importance of major exercises, exchanges, and dialogues in strengthening their partnership. Wong expressed his commitment to furthering this collaboration under General Subramani’s leadership.
Last month, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh engaged in discussions with the Defence Ministers of Singapore and New Zealand during the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. The focus was on bolstering bilateral ties, enhancing maritime cooperation, and improving information-sharing mechanisms. The interactions aimed to reaffirm a shared dedication to a secure, stable, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
Rajesh Kumar Singh also met with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana reception during the Shangri-La Dialogue. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral strategic ties and advancing cooperation in mutual interest areas. These engagements reflect the commitment of both nations to strengthening their relationship.
In April, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayna visited Singapore’s Changi Naval Base as part of the IOS SAGAR deployment under the vision of MAHASAGAR. The warm reception of the ship in Singapore reaffirmed the robust maritime ties between India and Singapore.
