The Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Baruipur, West Bengal, has uncovered significant digital evidence suggesting the crime was premeditated. Tower data from the suspects’ mobile phones showed them in the same location during the estimated time of the incident on July 4.
According to family members, the 12-year-old victim went missing at 6 p.m. on July 4, and her body was discovered the next morning. Investigations into the call records of the arrested individuals indicate that the main accused, Ananda Sarkar, orchestrated the crime, with Pravas Mondal and Dibakar Sardar following his instructions.
Pravas and Dibakar have been remanded to police custody for 14 days after appearing in court, while Ananda is set to face the court for custody proceedings. The police plan to interrogate all three together to understand the full extent of the crime’s planning and execution.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and a team from the state BJP, led by Agnimitra Paul, are scheduled to visit Baruipur to meet the victim’s family. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also intervened, seeking an Action Taken Report from the West Bengal DGP within a week regarding the investigation and support provided to the victim’s family.
