After a police constable in Siwan fired an AK-47 rifle during the Bihar Bandh protests on July 25, the Siwan Police have stated that the shots were aimed into the air to disperse a crowd and safeguard lives and public property. Constable Abhishek Kumar, deployed near J.P. Chowk, fired four rounds as a safety measure when surrounded by bandh supporters. No injuries were reported among the crowd during this incident.

The police have suspended Constable Abhishek Kumar following the incident and initiated disciplinary proceedings against him as per Siwan District Order No. 1144/26. They clarified that the three individuals injured during the protests were found at different locations from where the constable fired his weapon. Md Arif and Akash Kumar sustained injuries near Hafiz Chowk, while Bullet Kumar Gaur was injured near the Traffic Police Station. All three are reported to be out of danger after receiving medical care.

Authorities have confirmed that the injured individuals have filed separate FIRs. The controversy surrounding the AK-47 firing escalated when Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Bihar government for the incident. The issue gained national attention after Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP-led governments of using excessive force against protesting students, mentioning incidents in Bihar and Delhi.
