At least six individuals lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries in a tragic incident on a highway in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. The fatal collision occurred between a speeding private bus and a passenger van near Jasvantgadh Patiya, close to Himmatnagar. The van, en route from Shamlaji to Himmatnagar, was rear-ended by the bus, resulting in the devastating outcome.

The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the immediate death of six van occupants, while four others were injured. The injured individuals were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Reports indicate that the bus was traveling at a high speed when the accident transpired, hinting at excessive speed as a probable cause.

Authorities, including the Gambhoi police station Inspector Alpesh Chaudhary, have launched an investigation into the incident. Emergency services and police teams swiftly responded to the scene to assist with rescue efforts and assess the situation. The collision caused a temporary disruption of traffic on the highway as rescue operations unfolded, emphasizing the need for caution and adherence to traffic rules.

Efforts are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash, with a focus on the role of the bus driver. Statements are being recorded, and evidence from the site is being meticulously examined as part of the ongoing investigation. While the identities of the deceased have not been officially disclosed, standard post-mortem procedures are being carried out by the authorities.

This tragic event adds to a series of recent road accidents in the region, prompting authorities to stress the importance of following traffic regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
