Nithya Mani, on the other hand, upset 14th seed Minhyung Jee of Australia and will now face fourth seed Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarterfinals.
Qualifier Nithya Mani, ranked World No. 481, triumphed over Australia’s Jee 3-2 in a closely contested match. She now advances to play against Cheng I-Ching. In the men’s singles, G Sathiyan and Manush Shah also progressed to the pre-quarters. Sathiyan defeated Lim Jonghoon of Korea Republic 3-1, while Manush beat Park Gyuhyeon, another Korean player.
