SOBO Mumbai Falcons secured a 25-run victory over Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs to claim the first-ever T20 Mumbai Women’s League championship at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Led by captain Sayali Satghare, the Falcons defended a total of 124 runs with disciplined bowling, emerging as the tournament’s maiden winners.
Aakash Tigers started their chase steadily but stumbled after losing skipper Humairaa Kaazi for 23 runs with the score at 37. Janhvi Kate’s crucial spell turned the game in favor of the Falcons. Janhvi’s three wickets, including key dismissals of Sanika Chalke and Fatima Jaffer, kept the Tigers under pressure.
The Falcons maintained control as the Tigers struggled to build partnerships, eventually getting bowled out for 99 runs in 18.5 overs. Janhvi’s 3/21 and young talent Swara Jadhav’s two wickets were instrumental in the Falcons’ victory. The league, under the guidance of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik and League Governing Council Chairman Rajdip Gupta, showcased Mumbai’s women’s cricket talent and provided a platform for emerging players.
The tournament highlighted promising young talents like Swara and Sanika, who impressed with their performances. Winning captain Sayali praised the league for offering exposure and confidence to players, emphasizing its role in nurturing women’s cricket in India. The Falcons, after a shaky start, posted 124/6, anchored by Simran Shaikh’s 50 runs and supported by Sarika Koli and Sayali.
