South African Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile visited New Delhi and met with Indian leaders to strengthen ties between the two nations. President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the growing bilateral trade and emphasized the need for increased collaboration in technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, and other sectors. Mashatile also engaged in discussions with Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on trade, investment, defense cooperation, skills development, and people-to-people connections.
Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile further held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to explore opportunities for cooperation across various sectors. The visit aimed to deepen the longstanding partnership between South Africa and India, focusing on trade, investments, MSMEs, digital initiatives, and infrastructure projects. Both countries expressed a commitment to working closely in international forums to advance shared interests and priorities.
The South African Deputy President’s trip to India, which began on May 29, underscored the enduring relationship based on historical connections, cultural affinities, and a joint vision for global development. The two nations participate in various multilateral platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement, BRICS, IBSA, G20, and IORA, reflecting their dedication to promoting the interests of the Global South through collaborative partnerships.
