South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava conducted a thorough safety review meeting focusing on enhancing train operation safety through an extended CCTV surveillance system. He highlighted the importance of this system in deterring unlawful activities and urged Divisional Railway Managers to ensure comprehensive monitoring at key locations. Emphasizing the need for proper security measures, Srivastava instructed officers to secure all parked coaches and maintain safety protocols at railway facilities.
The meeting followed a recent incident where two coaches of the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express caught fire in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in a passenger fatality. Attended by top officials, the session underscored the significance of human oversight in safety protocols and equipment functionality. Srivastava stressed the role of timely reporting of disruptions or anomalies during operations, particularly during winter, and highlighted the importance of signal operations.
Addressing cleanliness and passenger comfort, Srivastava directed staff to ensure well-maintained coaches with proper lighting and air-conditioning to enhance passenger experience. He also instructed regular inspections at level crossings and evaluated the punctuality performance of trains across the zone. By analyzing punctuality data, he urged Divisional Railway Managers to address delays promptly and enhance overall operational efficiency.
