The southwest monsoon in Rajasthan has picked up pace due to a weather system forming over the Bay of Bengal, resulting in widespread rainfall and a notable decrease in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for four districts while the remaining areas are under a yellow alert.

Several regions in the state, including Udaipur, Kota, and Baran, experienced heavy rainfall, leading to overflowing rivers, waterlogging, and the opening of a gate at the Kalisindh Dam. Additionally, places like Jaipur, Kotputli-Behror, and Ajmer witnessed light to moderate showers.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has predicted that the monsoon will remain active in Rajasthan until July 25, with heavy rainfall expected in numerous districts. Notably, Chhipabarod in Baran received the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours at 130 mm, followed by Sultanpur in Kota with 101 mm.

The recent downpour in various parts of Rajasthan has brought relief from the scorching heat and humidity. Maximum temperatures in cities like Jaipur, Alwar, and Ajmer have decreased significantly, with Jaisalmer being the hottest city at 39.6 degrees Celsius. An orange alert has been issued for four districts, while the rest of Rajasthan is under a yellow alert, with the monsoon anticipated to remain active until July 25.
