The India Meteorological Department’s Shimla office announced that the southwest monsoon has arrived in Himachal Pradesh, albeit a few days later than usual. The monsoon has already covered various districts in the state, including Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Kangra.
According to the weather forecast, Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience widespread rainfall in the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in certain districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also predicted in isolated areas across the state.
Agriculture, the primary occupation in Himachal Pradesh, heavily relies on rainfall, with over 80% of horticultural and agricultural activities being rainfed. The state’s weather bureau anticipates a slight decrease in temperatures in the next few days, providing relief from the current heat.
