A Special NIA court in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district has directed the attachment of the property of Ghulam Nabi Shah, also known as Dr Fai, a US-based Kashmiri lobbyist. The court ordered the attachment of over 1.5 kanals of land owned by Dr Fai after declaring him an absconder in a 2020 case under various sections of the UAPA.
The court instructed the Collector Budgam to seize specific parcels of land owned by Dr Fai in Wadwan and Chattabugh villages. It emphasized the involvement of revenue authorities in identifying and demarcating the property before the attachment process. Additionally, the Budgam Senior Superintendent of Police was directed to provide necessary assistance during the property attachment.
Ghulam Nabi Shah, alias Dr Fai, is an American citizen of Kashmiri descent and a member of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami organization in Kashmir. He established the Kashmir American Council in the US to advocate for Kashmiri separatist groups and the Pakistani government. In 2011, the US government revealed that the Kashmir American Council was linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.
