A SpiceJet aircraft collided with a stationary Akasa Air plane at Delhi airport, causing minor damage to both planes. The incident occurred as the SpiceJet aircraft, arriving from Leh, was taxiing towards its gate and made contact with the Akasa Air plane, which was preparing for departure to Hyderabad. Initial reports indicate that the right winglet of the SpiceJet aircraft and the left-hand horizontal stabiliser of the Akasa Air plane were damaged in the collision.
An Akasa Air spokesperson mentioned that their aircraft, operating flight QP 1406 from Delhi to Hyderabad, had to return to the bay after the incident. All passengers and crew members were safely disembarked, and alternative arrangements were being made to transport passengers to Hyderabad promptly. The airline has informed the relevant authorities, and an investigation is underway to ensure passenger and crew safety and security.
Earlier this month, a catering van collided with a parked IndiGo aircraft at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, resulting in minor damage to the aircraft at Bay No. 51.
