Situated at 8880 meters above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas, the cave shrine of Shri Amarnath houses an ice stalagmite structure believed to symbolize the powers of Lord Shiva. Devotees can reach the shrine via the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district or the Baltal route in Ganderbal district, with helicopter services available on both routes.
