DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s plan to visit Karnataka for talks on the Cauvery water dispute. Stalin urged Vijay to cancel the visit, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu’s rights over the Cauvery are legally established.

Stalin argued that reopening the Cauvery issue through bilateral discussions could weaken Tamil Nadu’s legal stance. He called for an all-party meeting before any further steps are taken. Stalin questioned the purpose of the proposed visit, expressing doubts about its potential outcomes.

The DMK leader accused the Tamil Nadu government of falling into Karnataka’s trap to dilute Tamil Nadu’s rights over the Cauvery waters. He highlighted farmers’ discontent with the decision to pursue direct talks and emphasized the futility of engaging in direct negotiations with Karnataka.
