A workshop in Gandhinagar aimed to enhance the implementation of the PM-RAHAT scheme in Gujarat, ensuring immediate medical aid for road accident victims within the crucial “golden hour.” Organized by the Gujarat Road Safety Authority, the event gathered road safety officers, senior police and Health Department officials, and representatives from various concerned departments.
The PM-RAHAT scheme, initiated by the Central government, focuses on providing swift medical assistance to accident victims during the critical golden hour post-accident, where timely treatment is vital for saving lives. It offers cashless hospital treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for a week to ensure no financial obstacles hinder urgent medical care.
During the workshop, Gujarat Road Safety Authority Commissioner Satish Patel emphasized the significance of promptly treating accident victims within the golden hour. He highlighted the necessity for effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure the scheme’s benefits reach victims throughout the state.
State Traffic Branch IG M.L. Ninama guided on the police department’s role in facilitating cashless treatment for accident victims, explaining processes like accident reporting, documentation, and hospital coordination to swiftly enroll victims in the scheme.
Health Department officials discussed the crucial role of medical teams in providing timely treatment and enrolling accident victims in the PM-RAHAT scheme. The workshop aimed to enhance collaboration among departments for the effective implementation of the scheme in Gujarat.
