India’s major state-run oil marketing companies, including HPCL, IOCL, and BPCL, reassured the public on Thursday that there are no disruptions in the supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG nationwide. They cautioned against believing unfounded rumors or misinformation on social media about fuel shortages. The companies emphasized that their fuel distribution networks are operating smoothly, with ample stock availability and regular replenishment.
HPCL specifically mentioned that fuel and LPG supplies in Rajasthan, Karnataka, and parts of Uttarakhand are stable, despite rumors and false claims circulating on social media. Retail outlets in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, are functioning normally, with continuous replenishment and sufficient fuel stocks. According to HPCL, petrol supplies in Rajasthan have seen a 19% increase from May 1 to May 20 compared to historical sales, while diesel supplies have risen by 24.5% during the same period.
The company also debunked reports of fuel shortages in Uttarakhand’s Augustmuni and Guptkashi areas, stating that nearby retail outlets have abundant stock and no sales restrictions are in place. HPCL further mentioned that LPG supplies in Karnataka are steady, despite enforcement actions against black marketing and irregularities. The Karnataka government has seized 1,874 LPG cylinders and initiated legal proceedings against such activities as of May 19, 2026.
IndianOil confirmed that its retail outlets nationwide are well-supplied with petrol and diesel to ensure uninterrupted availability for consumers. The company urged responsible driving, calm refueling, and reliance on verified information only. Meanwhile, BPCL clarified that fuel availability at its retail outlet in Kaladhungi, Nainital district, Uttarakhand, is normal and adequately meeting demand. The outlet’s current fuel stocks are adequate to cover nearly four days of regular sales requirements, with fresh replenishments ensuring continuous availability of petrol and diesel.
The oil marketing companies collectively urged customers to refrain from panic buying and to trust official communication channels for accurate information on fuel supplies.
