A digital survey of Other Backward Class (OBC) families has commenced in Rajasthan to determine OBC reservation for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections. The survey, conducted through the Rajdhara Survey Mobile App, aims to collect accurate data essential for legally compliant seat reservations in local bodies.
The Rajasthan State Other Backward Classes (Political Representation) Commission has initiated the survey across all districts, with 51,168 government enumerators visiting households to gather information on the social, educational, economic, and demographic status of OBC families. This data will aid in evaluating political representation and shaping the reservation framework for various local body elections.
The survey’s significance lies in its role in preparing the revised reservation roster for OBC seats in rural and urban local bodies. It addresses delays in the election process due to the lack of updated data required for determining reservations for OBCs, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and women, in compliance with constitutional provisions and judicial guidelines.
The digital survey’s primary objective is to provide accurate data on OBC political representation in local bodies. The Commission will use these findings to make recommendations to the state government, aligning with Supreme Court and Rajasthan High Court directives to finalize reservations and proceed with the pending elections. The survey is being conducted exclusively through the Rajdhara Survey Mobile App, ensuring efficient data collection during enumerators’ visits.
