A tragic incident in Erumapetty near Thrissur resulted in the death of an 84-year-old bedridden woman due to a stray dog attack. The woman’s 60-year-old mentally challenged son also suffered serious injuries during the attack, which took place at their residence around 5.30 p.m.

The elderly woman, who was bedridden due to age-related ailments, was alone with her son when the stray dog entered their home and attacked them. The woman’s other son, who lives nearby, discovered the horrifying scene when he visited to bring them food.

Upon returning to the house, the visiting son found his mother lying motionless in a pool of blood and his brother severely bitten by the stray dog. The injured son, who has difficulty communicating, was unable to seek help during the attack. Neighbors were alerted, and both victims were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment.

Doctors at the hospital confirmed the woman’s death due to the injuries sustained in the attack. The condition of the injured son is reported to be stable, and he is receiving treatment as per medical protocols. Locals have expressed concern as the same stray dog had reportedly attacked another person previously, urging authorities to take immediate action to capture the animal and prevent further incidents.
