Strong gusty winds swept through various parts of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, with the IMD Bhopal center recording a peak wind speed of 74 kmph in Agar district.

The winds and thunderstorms caused damage to wheat crops in multiple areas of the state. The IMD’s Meteorological Center in Bhopal has issued a fresh alert cautioning about thunderstorms, lightning, and potential hailstorms in several regions of Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours.

The IMD Bhopal center mentioned that unstable weather conditions could lead to isolated to scattered thunderstorm and lightning activity, with chances of hail in some places. Various districts in Madhya Pradesh experienced high wind speeds, with Sehore at 54 kmph, Badwani at 46 kmph, and Alirajpur at 43 kmph, among others.

In eastern Madhya Pradesh, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur airport, and Katni reported wind speeds ranging from 30 to 46 kmph. The Meteorological Center in Bhopal issued a fresh thunderstorm alert alongside these high winds.

The weather department warned of moderate thunderstorms with lightning and hail expected in certain districts. Farmers have been advised to safeguard their livestock and avoid outdoor activities. The prevailing cyclonic circulation and trough in the region are anticipated to trigger thunderstorm activity across central and eastern Madhya Pradesh.
