A Class 7 student at a Seventh Day Adventist School in Ahmedabad was reportedly assaulted by three classmates on campus. The incident occurred after a dispute when the victim, who was serving as the monitor, asked the students to line up while leaving school. Following this, the trio allegedly threatened and assaulted the victim near the cycle parking area.
The next day, during recess, the three students reportedly followed the monitor to the washroom area where they physically attacked him, tore his shirt buttons, and one of them even threatened him with a sharp object. The victim reported the incident to his family, leading to a police complaint being filed.
Authorities are currently investigating the matter, recording statements from the victim, witnesses, and the accused students. The District Education Officer has visited the school and issued notices to the school management, questioning the lapses in ensuring student safety and considering disciplinary actions.
Concerns over safety at the school have resurfaced due to this incident, which is not the first of its kind. In the past, the school faced severe cases, including a fatal stabbing of a student last year, which raised questions about the school’s safety protocols and administrative responsibilities. Further actions will be taken based on the outcomes of the ongoing inquiries.
