Student protests erupted in various parts of Bihar, including Patna and Katihar, as demonstrators called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In Patna, a significant number of students gathered outside Patna College, protesting against alleged police brutality towards students during previous demonstrations. Police intervened to disperse the crowd and detained several protesters to maintain order.
The protesters in Patna demanded the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan and criticized the police for their actions against students. Despite police efforts to disperse the demonstration, students continued to voice their demands peacefully. A similar protest took place in Katihar, where students marched to the District Collectorate from Shaheed Chowk, condemning the use of force on students at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
In Katihar, after reaching the Collectorate, protesters staged a sit-in outside the main gate, demanding action against those responsible for the lathi-charge on students. Police presence was heightened to prevent any potential disturbances, leading to the removal of protesters from the entrance. Following the protests, security was increased in sensitive areas across Katihar, including the railway station and other public locations.
