Renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently received the original poster of his 1982 movie “Vidhaata,” triggering a wave of nostalgia. This film holds a special place in Ghai’s heart as it marked his collaboration with Bollywood legends like Dilip Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, and Sanjay Dutt. Ghai shared the poster on his Instagram, expressing his fond memories and hinting at the numerous untold stories associated with the movie.
The movie “Vidhaata” also featured actors like Madan Puri, Amrish Puri, Suresh Oberoi, and Sarika in significant roles, alongside the mentioned stars. The storyline revolves around Shamsher Singh (portrayed by Dilip Kumar) seeking vengeance for his son’s death, with his grandson Kunal (played by Sanjay Dutt) embarking on a mission of retribution while grappling with his grandfather’s hidden life.
Ghai’s post revealed that the film was a super hit in 1982, setting the stage for a cascade of memories and tales linked to its making. With Kalamkar Rao as the cinematographer, and Waman Bhonsle and Gurudutt Shirali as the editors, the movie boasted music by Kalyanji-Anandji. Produced by Gulshan Rai under Trimurti Films, “Vidhaata” was not only a success in Hindi but also saw remakes in Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil under different titles.
