Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Badal pledged assistance to farmers in Punjab whose crops were damaged, covering 1.25 lakh acres. Badal, addressing a rally in Budhlada town, stated plans to provide wheat, green, and dry fodder to affected farmers. The party will finalize the details of this initiative in a meeting in Chandigarh.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was criticized by Badal for allegedly neglecting farmers who are yet to receive compensation for the previous year’s flood-related crop losses. Despite promises from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), farmers affected by recent unseasonal weather have not received immediate aid. Badal accused AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal of spreading falsehoods about compensation to Punjab farmers.
Badal also highlighted the alleged collaboration between AAP and Congress to counter SAD’s influence in Punjab. He announced plans to establish a hospital akin to AIIMS in Mansa and a veterinary college. Additionally, he promised infrastructure improvements, including the re-laying of link roads, construction of concrete streets and drains in villages, and ensuring every family has a permanent home.
MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal emphasized the previous SAD government’s investment in irrigation projects in Budhlada. She criticized the AAP government for failing to provide timely compensation to farmers for various agricultural challenges, including floods and pest attacks.
