Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Badal has called for the disqualification of Atishi, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, for making blasphemous comments against the Guru Sahiban. Badal, in a letter to the Speaker, expressed his distress over Atishi’s behavior, citing it as a serious breach of privilege and contempt of the House.

Badal emphasized that a legislator who publicly disrespects the faith and religious sentiments of the Sikh community loses the moral and constitutional right to hold office. He urged the Speaker to take legal action against Atishi under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for hurting religious sentiments and promoting disharmony between communities.

Highlighting the global concern within the Sikh community, Badal stressed the significance of upholding respect for all faiths, especially minorities. He underscored the spiritual importance of the Sikh Guru Sahiban and the unity they symbolize, urging the Speaker to set a precedent for future generations in fostering communal harmony.
