Sukhbir Singh Badal, the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly committing sacrilege against the Sikh Gurus. Speaking at a conference during the Maghi Mela at Takhtapura Sahib, Badal expressed shock over the actions of the Chief Minister and called on revered figures in the Sikh community to address the issue. He also mentioned individuals who had previously criticized SAD on the matter but were now silent.

Badal highlighted that incidents of sacrilege began in Punjab in 2015 after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) entered the state in 2014. He suggested that these incidents were aimed at dividing the Sikh community and tarnishing the reputation of SAD. Additionally, Badal accused the AAP-led Punjab government of attempting to falsely implicate him in a case, emphasizing his commitment to standing against what he deemed as oppressive policies.

The SAD President urged the people of Punjab to support the party, emphasizing their track record of fulfilling promises, unlike the Congress and AAP. He pledged to enhance pro-farmer, pro-poor, and pro-youth initiatives once the SAD assumed power in 2027. Badal also promised free tubewell connections for neglected farmers and vowed to address the issue of Punjab waters flowing into the Rajasthan canal unlawfully.
