MahaYuti candidate and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar participated in the Baramati Assembly by-election by casting her vote at a polling station in Baramati’s Gangubai Kante Zilla Parishad Primary School. The by-election was triggered by the unfortunate passing of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash near Baramati airport earlier this year. Sunetra Pawar, who succeeded her late husband as Deputy CM, is now contesting the by-election along with 23 other candidates, as the NCP (SP) and Congress withdrew from the race.
Sunetra Pawar, while speaking to reporters, highlighted Ajit Pawar’s significant contributions to Baramati over the years and urged the voters to honor his legacy by participating in the election. She also paid her respects at Ajit Pawar’s memorial site before casting her vote, a gesture echoed by their son, Rajya Sabha member Parth Pawar. Sunetra Pawar emotionally pledged to fulfill her late husband’s aspirations and serve the people of Baramati during a recent public address, emphasizing her commitment to continuing Ajit Pawar’s vision for the region.
Acknowledging the overwhelming support she has received, Sunetra Pawar expressed gratitude to various organizations and emphasized her dedication to serving the people of Baramati. She positioned herself as a public servant rather than a conventional politician, attributing the foundation of her political journey to the legacy established by Sharad Pawar and further developed by Ajit Pawar. Sunetra Pawar emphasized the historical significance of Baramati’s political landscape and the unity demonstrated by the local community, underscoring the profound impact Ajit Pawar had on the region’s development and the enduring bond between the Pawar family and Baramati residents.
