Sunetra Pawar, Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his blessings. She found his words inspiring and they boosted her confidence in serving the state. Pawar highlighted her commitment to public welfare and carrying forward her late husband Ajit Pawar’s legacy of serving farmers, laborers, women, youth, and the underprivileged with dedication to Maharashtra’s welfare.
She acknowledged the sorrow caused by her husband’s untimely passing but emphasized her determination to uphold his values and work for a just, equal, and developed Maharashtra. Pawar mentioned the overwhelming support from the people of Maharashtra as her source of strength and expressed hope in moving forward with their trust and her husband’s ideals.
Sunetra Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister in a simple ceremony at Lok Bhavan, administered the oath by Governor Acharya Devvrat. The event was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, ministers, and legislators, where Pawar took her oath earnestly. Before her appointment, she was elected as the NCP Legislature Party leader, with unanimous support and proposals from party members like Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil.
