Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar expressed delight over Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 97 runs that led India to a crucial five-wicket victory against the West Indies. Samson’s impressive innings, comprising 12 fours and four sixes off 50 balls, secured India’s spot in the T20 World Cup semi-final against England in Mumbai on Thursday.

Gavaskar commended Samson’s talent, stating that the wicketkeeper-batsman, known for his sincerity, has finally received the recognition he deserves. He emphasized the significance of Samson’s match-winning performance and the relief it brings to those who have supported him through his ups and downs in cricket.

The cricket legend also mentioned that a century for Samson is within reach, highlighting the player’s potential for future remarkable innings. Gavaskar praised India’s strategic batting approach, particularly their efficient strike rotation and ability to minimize dot balls, which played a crucial role in chasing down a challenging target.

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar lauded Samson’s resilience and adaptability, noting the rollercoaster journey the player has experienced in recent years. Nayar highlighted Samson’s determination to secure his position in the team, culminating in a standout performance of 97 runs that showcased a different, controlled, and aggressive style of play.
