Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan’s 70 and Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 led Sunrisers Hyderabad to a five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, securing their spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. Chasing 181, SRH achieved the target in 19 overs, joining Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the playoffs with 16 points from 13 matches.
SRH started positively with Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive play, but CSK struck early with a wicket in the third over. Despite a slow start, SRH managed to keep the scoreboard moving, reaching 45/1 at the end of the Power-play.
Ishan Kishan took charge after a partnership break in the eighth over, guiding SRH’s chase alongside Heinrich Klaasen, who played aggressively. Klaasen’s attacking innings of 47 runs included six fours and two sixes before getting dismissed in the 15th over.
Kishan completed his half-century in 37 balls and continued to anchor the innings with Nitish Kumar Reddy. His composed 70 off 47 balls, supported by key contributions, ensured SRH’s victory with six balls to spare, sealing their playoff berth.
Earlier, Dewald Brevis’ 44 helped CSK post 180/7, with Pat Cummins shining for SRH with figures of 3/28, supported by Sakib Husain and Praful Hinge’s two wickets each.
