Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has been fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over rate during an IPL 2026 match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This fine was imposed as it was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. The match saw SRH suffering their biggest defeat in the IPL, losing to GT by 82 runs.

Donning lavender jerseys to raise cancer awareness, GT defended the second-lowest total successfully against SRH. Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar’s brilliant fifties powered GT to 168/5 in 20 overs. Despite the seemingly achievable 168-run target, a remarkable bowling performance by Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj led to SRH being bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.

Chasing 169, SRH struggled against GT’s pace attack, with Siraj and Rabada making early breakthroughs. Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna maintained pressure in the middle overs. Cummins briefly resisted with a quick 19 off 9 deliveries before falling to Prasidh Krishna. Rashid Khan’s final wicket wrapped up SRH’s innings at 86, highlighting the team’s batting struggles.

The heavy defeat has impacted SRH’s Net Run Rate and emphasizes the need for a strong comeback in their upcoming matches to secure a top-two finish in the playoffs.
